Chris came to Canada in 1965 from Holland, settling in Ancaster. He started Kruter Construction Compagnie LTD in 1968.
Son Peter took over Kruter Construction in 2015.
If Chris were a writer he could write a book of all the changes in Ancaster since his arrival in Canada.
“I believe that we should leave the village core the way that it is, like as it was when we came here in 1965.”
Awards received
- 1995 Cross of Merit Dutch Canadian Legion
- 2004 Knighted in the House of Orange by Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands
- 2017 Mrs. Willie Kruter received the Cross of Merit, and they became the first married Dutch couple to receive this medal
- 2018 Chris won the Hamilton senior citizen award in the Innovation category
